April 2010:
ESCO met botanist, author, broadcaster and environmental campaigner, David Bellamy
At a recent event the ESCO GB team met the star who took time out to talk to us about his first 'homemade' laminar flow cabinet which he used in some of his first experiments. As well as spending time with the team Bellamy also held a seminar around whether global warming is man-made or another cycle in the natural history of our planet - food for thought!
In 1982 Bellamy (along with David Shreeve) founded the Conservation Foundation which aims to provide a means for people in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors to work together on environmental causes. As well as this and a diverse range of other achievements Bellamy has published over 80 scientific papers and many books.
